In light of the injustices committed by the Israeli occupation in the West Bank and Gaza, concerned members of the advertising and media community in Jordan have produced a media campaign to mobilize public opinion, to open the world's eyes to the violation of basic human rights, in an effort to pressure policy-makers to effect an immediate stop to the current occupation.

As members of the media community, we believe that this war must be fought through public relations efforts and the media, through advertising and education, and through having qualified spokespeople address the justice of the cause, changing people's stereotypes about Palestinians, Arabs, and Muslims. It is time to take a proactive role instead of waiting for things to happen.

As they say, the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Ours is a unified media campaign that appeals to Arab and Western audiences. This campaign comprises advertisements that can be placed in newspapers and magazines, with images that may be printed on t-shirts, posters, or even sent as emails.

As our main target is American and European public opinion, we need your help. Running such a campaign in major US and European papers will require substantial resources, funds we are in the process of raising right now through many organizations, NGOs, and others sympathetic to our cause. However, on the small level, we believe YOU can run this campaign immediately in college campus and local community newspapers. We know that many Arab organizations in various universities either have funding or can raise funds for this purpose.

The student movement of the University of California at Berkeley and the ensuing demonstrations on the campus during the Vietnam War started a ripple effect that took over the whole nation and eventually led to America's pullout from Vietnam. Students and youth are the force of change. Please be active and help.  As one anonymous writer once said, " Our lives begin to
end the day we become silent about things that matter."

As you read this letter right now more people are being killed, tortured, orphaned, made homeless, or buried. More tragedies are being uncovered from under the rubble of what once was a city or village. Mobilize all you know and have them help us 'be a force in regaining the rights, the dignity, and most importantly the land of the Palestinian people.
