280 Palestinian Children Killed by Israeli Army: UNICEF

AMMAN: The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has announced that 280 Palestinian children have been killed in Israeli attacks on Palestinian areas since the beginning of the Intifada (uprising) on September 28, 2000.
The UNICEF representative in Jordan, Perpio Bar, said that about 7,000 Palestinian children have been injured and 500 others have been permanently handicapped during the Intifada.
He added that hundreds of thousands of Palestinian students have been forced to leave their schools due to the destruction or occupation of schoolrooms by the Israeli army.
According to statistics released by the Palestinian Authority's Medical Center, since the beginning of the Intifada, over 2,200 Palestinians, including 500 children and teenagers, have been martyred, 50,000 injured and thousands detained.
